Jean’s Bag/Pouch

My first attempt of making this Jean’s Bag/pouch in 2016.

I had a ratty Jean’s that I really wanted to keep but did not know what to do with it. I started imagining and thinking what things I could make out of that Jean’s, and I really had pretty unique ideas, so I gave a try to one of the ideas and TADDAAA … JEAN’S BAG. This bag is very spacious from inside and can hold many things like phones, small books, pencil case..etc. It also has 2 pockets, one at the back and one in front and belt loops so you can tie around anything or hand a keychain to it.

This is one of my favourites, it took so much of effort and energy to make it, has many faults and flaws but I like it when people comment on it “I thought you were holding a pair of Jean pants and walking” “This is so creative” “From where did you get this?” “Did you make this?” …etc. it gives me that feeling of accomplishment.

Hopefully next time when I make same bag I correct those faults and flaws to make it better.

I used to carry it out with me, but now I am using it to store my crochet and sewing stuff in it.

Please leave a comment if you like it would appreciate your thoughts about it♡.

DIY Wrapped Earphone Cord Cover

Hello,

Previously I have done a similar project DIY crochet cord cover, but this time I made it more simple and just tried wrapping the thin string yarn from Diva Batik by Alize, 100% Microfiber Acrylic, 100g, 350 mt. – 383 yds.

Diva Batik by Alize have beautiful mix colour yarns, so I used one of their mix colour yarns and cut small pieces of the yarn to get all the colours shown when covering the cord.

It took me 2 days to finish it, as I was extremely busy and tired that I couldn’t finish this project in one day.

I have used fabric glue and thin double sided tape as well to keep the wrapped strings together and not moving.

The ends of the cord or the places I couldn’t wrap were the challenge for me, how to cut the string and not letting the end of the string show, so I used fabric glue to seal it.

My new is Rug made of #Croandknit fabric yarns

I am so excited to share with you my handmade crochet rug, made from fabric yarn, it took me more than a week to finish it, but it was worth it.

I really wanted to try fabric yarn or ( T-shirt yarn) but couldn’t find it until recently. I got my yarn from a local company (Bahraini Brand) called “Cro & Knit” 100% cotton, weighs 120g and 8mm hook. The yarns are available in many colours.

As for my rug I preferred using 10 mm hook, as it was more easier and smoother to crochet. I have used 10 yarns in total of two different colours ( Brown and golden ), 5 pieces of each colour. The diameter of my round rug is 65 Cm. All the way from first raw to the 23rd raw I used cross stitch, and 24th raw was a single stitch to give it a fine finishing. My rug feels soft and smooth and medium light.

I would like to complete on my rug to make it bigger or maybe start a new rug project and much bigger.

It was a great experience making a rug matching my carpet, now I have more ideas on my mind regarding products/items made from fabric yarn.

Crochet: Stuff that i tried

Hello again,

This post is about the things i made using one yarn.

I keep trying making new things using different yarn colours and sizes and for the first time i thought of actually buying a thin cotton yarn (1-3 mm hook can be used for it), usually i buy wool yarn or thick cotton yarns and use (3.00 mm – 10.00mm) hooks.

But for this one i used 1.6 mm

You can see in the pictures below the things i have made using this beautiful colour yarn, first things i made were the bookmarks, then i tried making a phone cover and then cosies. I still have yarn left to try making more things and definitely will upload my new work.

Strawberry & Mars Dip Sauce

Hello again,

Eating fruits for snack is more refreshing and fun for adults and kids especially when it’s strawberry fruit snack. Food presentation plays a great role in tempting our eyes and makes you want to taste it.

Personally I love making snacks and starters more than sweet dishes and halwas, because they taste different and my entire family gathers around to finish it up, so we have a lovely tea and snack party gathering in the evenings.

img_20170108_173342-01.jpeg

preparation time:

minutes

ingredients:

  • Cream
  • 2 Medium Mars Bars *or 1 Cadbury bar*
  • Strawberry *or any other fruit*
  • water to melt the chocolate bars

How to:

Wash the strawberries or what ever fruit you are using, and keep it aside to dry.

Boil water and pour it in a mug, cover the mug with a bowl that fits the mug and put mars bars in it and smash it gently, as soon as it becomes soft or in liquid form add 3 table spoons of cream and mix well. And it’s ready. The heat coming from bottom of the bowl helps the mix chocolate with the cream well.

Don’t microwave the chocolate because it becomes hard sometimes and you might face difficulty in preparing the dip sauce.

Presentation:

img_20170108_173320-01.jpeg

Take one or two large doilies paper and place them square ceramic bowl or dish. Put your chocolate cream dip in a small ceramic bowl and place the bowl in the center of the square ceramic dish. Start layering strawberries around the dip bowl and you’re done.

I hope you like this simple snack and dip, try it and give me your feedback. Ideas and suggestions are welcomed. 😀

#DIY – Arm Knitting Scarf

Hello

I made many crochet scarfs before, but never knitted one. I learned knitting twice from my grandma, but i still found crochet easy to remember. But Handknitting is very easy and very fast. at first i had difficulty knitting, but the more layers i made the more i got used to it, until my finals layers were just perfect.

I watched couple of youtube videos how to arm knit, they were all about how to make an infinity/loop scarf, but i wanted a straight scarf so and started knitting, and my scarf was ready in 30 min only, but i kept my ends open i did not loop them together.

I used 2x bulky yarn (Nako spaghetti effect, 25% wool, 75% premium acrylic, 100 g 60m)

DIY crochet cord cover

Hello again,

Finally got a solution to keep my earphone cord protected and tangle free. Few days back i was checking instagram and i saw a picture of colourful pretty looking covered earphones, so i got an idea to do the same with my earphones. So i searched the net how to do it, but some how i just wanted to crochet the cord. So i used a multi soft colours yarn that i already had at home, i did not buy anything, i just used what i had at home.

Things i used:

  • yarn
  • earphone cord
  • crochet hook (TULIP 5)
  • craft glue

I started from the bottom of the cord, glued the start of the chain so it doesn’t move and crochet easily.

snapchat-689801282-01.jpeg

I crochet till i reached the joint and continued crochet till i reached one end and glued the ending point to the end of ear bud, then started from the joint again to finish the second end and glued ending of the second earbud to the end of the chain, so that it doesn’t come off or move.

snapchat-1708984949-01.jpeg  I used double yarn, so the length i cut the yarn wasn’t enough at all, so i kept cutting more and more and still it wasn’t enough, but i managed to continue crochet neatly.

DIY Painted Fig Leaves

Hello,

Few days back i saw a tutorial how to draw and colour a tree leaf, i rememberd i had some dried leaves under my books and thought to colour them instead of drawing one.

img_20161028_100242.jpg

These leaves are pressed and won’t separate from another orelse they will break, that thin and delicate they are. I just did my best to give it a galaxy look, i know there is no black and i intentionally avoided it, i let the end of each leaf and shadows take up the black colours role. I am going to frame it and hang it in my room.

DIY CD Stones Placemat

Hello again,

Previously i made stones placemat using hot glue and i wasn’t that satisfied with it, so i thought to try it with crafts glue. Though i wasn’t sure if crafts glue will stick and hold the stones on the CD, but it did, and it worked better than the hot glue.

So i took a CD, chose the stones i wanted to stick to the CD, and started gluing them on the CD. I had to be very careful while gluing the stones because they would still move, but on the other hand it was good for me it made it easier for me to adjust them.

img_20161028_112911.jpg

After gluin all the stones, i poured glue in the empty holes showing between the stones to fill them up and cover them. I let the stones try for 3 days just to make sure the glue has dried completely and you will know it when the CD is not soft and flexible anymore.

img_20161028_113048.png

And finally it’s ready, i tested it by putting my glass tea pot on it, and the stones did not come out or moved from pots heat and it remained hard.

to give it a shiny look, you can apply a soft layer of craft glue on the stones or diluted with water.

you can see my previous hot glue stones placemat work here DIY Stones Placemat
